Hey Houston DUers, I'm coming down from Chicago Thanksgiving

Any interest in a "meet up of sorts" Please.

Me nad Mrs. Dittie will be around. We'll show you the town (if you haven't seen it already) or just put a little get-together together.

I have worlds of family down there, lived in Houston 16yrs.

I'll be staying in the North Burbs but my stomping ground in
Houston is Montrose, Rice U pretty much all the cool places.

I should be home in plenty of time to meet for diner. A little west of downtown would be better for me.

I really enjoyed meeting everyone at the strategy session today!

For those who need to stay on a budget, there's Chachos for Mexican or La Vista for Italian.

For fine dining, Fogo De Chao is my favorite out that way, but we could also go to Pappas Brothers or Truluck's. Magnolia Bar and Grill I haven't been to in ages and they have great Cajun dishes.

Other suggestions? What and where?

I'm afraid I don't have the budget for fine dining though. It'll be great to deprogram after a holiday visit with family!

She's thrilled about meeting some kindred spirits! Get this:

She lived in Houston from the '70's until 1986 in a commune on the east side. Y'all are gonna HAFTA hear her tell this story.

She's bringing her cousin and her husband who live up north in one of the GOP exurbs (not only are they Dems but they're Christians too! AND they have a pet unicorn!;)), and her brother, the fellow who lost a wad when Enron blew up. And maybe a nephew or a friend or two.

So we'll meet at Chacho's (link above) UNLESS I HEAR A BETTER IDEA! around 7ish this Saturday night (and unless some want to gather earlier at the KPFT Backyard Peace Party). That will give the early birds time to eat and get home. Then us party animals will move it on over to the Downtown and light it up a little.

How did it go? Great fun had by all, I'm sure!

where there were hundreds of people. I was amazed at the turnout there.

Considering the descriptions we gave each other, it's a wonder we able to meet. However, how many 5-foot-tall ladies looking lost can there be, even in a city the size of Houston? ;-)

pearl is one of those rare people that's even nicer in person than you imagine. It's always nice when you have high expectations about a person and they are exceeded. She gave us a lovely watercolor urbanscape (inspired no doubt by a scene from Chicago) and her cousin's husband took some pictures, which they may or may not be able to post online. (Poor S.A. and L. live up in Spring and have no good Dems to chat with. Can some a y'all help them out?)

Lisa0825 and slutticus joined us at Chacho's but somehow we managed to elude WestHoustonDem, who was there looking for us. I'm realllly sorry, L.

After that the kids (and us) went downtown and heard all about Lisa's trip to Cancun, a story about T.'s growing-into-a-man than was almost more than we needed to know (joking, T) and crashed a gathering of Latinitas at Cabo who were shattering eardrums with their laughing and shrieking.

Barely caught the last train home just before 2.

We had such a marvelous time sat night. Only wish I could have
joined the late crowd. I'm telling you it was equally inspiring
for me. I didn't get to visit with sluticus and Lisa as much but
loved meeting you pdittie and wife. loved it . Thank you guys.
