Momentum building in corporate money scandal
Dear Clean Up Texas Politics Supporter,
Yesterday Diversified Collection Services, one of eight corporations charged in September with violating Texas' campaign finance laws, agreed to give testimony against others indicted in the TRMPAC case. This dramatically increases the pressure on the others implicated in the case. We expect that Diversified will not be the only company to cooperate with prosecutors.

This breaking scandal gives the people of Texas our best chance in decades to close the loopholes and completely ban corporate money from Texas elections. Please forward this email to your friends and family and encourage them to sign our Clean Up Texas Politics petition at: http://cleanuptexaspolitics.com/petition

Here's more on today's developments from the Fort Worth Star-Telegram:

A state district judge in Austin on Thursday dismissed an indictment against one of the corporations charged with making illegal campaign contributions in 2002 after the firm agreed to help the Travis County district attorney's office prosecute others involved in the case.

Judge Bob Perkins dropped the indictment against Diversified Collection Services, a debt collector in San Leandro, Calif., and one of eight corporations and three associates of U.S. House Majority Leader Tom DeLay charged in September with violating Texas' campaign finance laws.

Diversified was accused of making a $50,000 contribution. According to the motion to dismiss the indictment, the company "will engage in a program of community service and civic involvement" in Texas and "cooperate ... in the prosecution of any other indicted person" in the case.

Take a look at the picture of John Colyandro in the news story above. He's just the perfect real life embodiment of Beavis of Beavis and Butthead fame.
