BBV needs help! Do you know 10 voters in your precinct?

Bev and Andy and the crew at blackboxvoting.org are trying to file for manual recounts in as many states as possible, but each state has different requirements and the deadlines are coming up fast. In some states only a candidate can request a recount, in some states it only takes 10 voters, but IdaBriggs thinks that in Utah it might take 10 voters PER PRECINCT to request a recount.

The deadline for filing for a recount in Utah is Thursday. If you can help, please go to the following link, scroll down to the post by IdaBriggs, and PM Ida. Thanks!

1. Not Utah
But we have lists from 200 plus precincts in Missouri. Can get access in Kansas too. What are the rules in those states.

2. They may already have filed in Kansas. Ida didn't mention it.

As for Missouri, it might take a court challenge there--Ida wasn't sure.

The Utah thing sure is strange, as it seems that most places only require a candidate or 10 voters in the whole state. Ten voters from each precinct must mean that they REALLY don't want recounts.

3. OK now I'm getting paranoid and lol that takes a lot
I'm getting confused with all the posts and really don't want to send info to people who shouldn't have it. Precisely the reason I think they are working on this underground.

I won't say the organization, but there are lists and 10 people in each precinct would not be that much. Remember this campaign unlike 2000 we had massive grassroots groups and we all have voter info.

Has anyone posted that Democracy Now (pacifica network) reported on the BBV investigation on Friday?

4. Well the deadline for filing in Utah is Thursday.

Maybe 10 people in each precinct isn't much, but actually getting to them, getting their signatures, and filing for a recount by Thursday won't be easy.

I hope you went to the link I posted above, scrolled down to the post by IdaBriggs, and PMed the information to Ida. Thanks for your help!

In the meantime, chew on these!

Utah not a one-party state for these folks (SL Tribune 11/01/04)

A small-business woman in Old Town Park City, Carter moved to the precinct about two years ago and was stunned when only two people showed up at the neighborhood GOP caucus earlier this year.

Republicans are outnumbered 3-to-1 in her precinct and hers is the only house on the street with a Republican lawn sign in the yard. Even at dinner parties, she says, she's put on the hot seat by Democratic friends.

"I've had people get mad at me, 'How can you support these Republican candidates?' " she says. "You're always having to defend yourself and come up with extraordinary reasons to defend your views."

The Salt Lake Tribune analyzed returns from all 1,568 precincts in the 2000 election, focusing on the results of three statewide races -- the gubernatorial, senate and presidential campaigns. Among the findings:

Two hundred and twenty-one Utah precincts lean toward or are solidly in the Democratic camp. About one in 10 precincts -- 132 in all -- are battleground precincts, where the parties were separated by less than 5 percentage points. The remaining precincts fell into the Republican column, with 230 leaning Republican and 985 solidly Republican, with GOP candidates receiving more than 60 percent of the vote.

From an ABC local station story: 10/18/2004
Utah Voters Registering in Big Numbers as Election Draws Near

"All the reports I'm getting from all the counties are that registration is up. And it's not just up - we are being flooded with registration forms," said Amy Naccarato, director of elections for Utah.
