Breaking the stranglehold that Republicans hold in Va.
I don't think there is any secret that here in Virginia that it is mostly under control of the Republicans, despite the fact that we have a Democratic Governor. I've lived here in Virginia all my life, and it is my belief that the biggest problem Democrats have is getting out their message.

I'm sure we all are well aware that the Richmond Times Disgrace... err Dispatch... is firmly in the hands of Republicans. Do we have an alternative News Paper that has a liberal slant and is favorable to Democrats and other liberals and progressives? One of my local papers has recently taken on an anti-Bush slant but they are more moderate than liberal and only focus on extremely local news.

Does anyone know if such a Paper exists, and if not... is there away that we can change that? How difficult would it be to bring such a paper into existence?

1. The Roanoke Times is pretty liberal
At least as far as their editorial staff. Here's the link to the editorial page http://www.roanoke.com/editorials/ Their columnists cover a fairly balanced spectrum, some left some right most I would say are slightly left of center though. My favorite is Barney Day. From a recent column about Jim Gilmore:

Has this guy got the hots, the lust, for elective office again, or what? Wouldn’t you think getting sacked by Little Bush would have sort of put a damper on that?

G’Mo lit up the GOP state convention in Richmond over the weekend. Well, actually ‘lit up’ is a very relative sort of term here, which brings to mind a short, diversionary question?

What does it say about the caliber of the other speakers?

If Gilmore, who speaks with the verve and passion of a middle manager in Cleveland explaining the details of an insurance program, is firing up the crowd, how’d you like to have to sit there and listen to the rest of them? Talk about death by tedium!
