1. Prop 1 or Referendum 1?
I wish the city used different numbering systems for the two.

Proposition 1 is the transportation levy. I'm voting yes, but I'm not excited about it. Seattle has a sad tendency to raise money through levies, then grossly mismanagement those funds ("What's that word?" "Monorail!")

Referendum 1 is to enact or repeal the "4-foot rule" in strip clubs. That one is a definite No (meaning I'm voting to repeal.)

2. Voting yes on Prop 1
It's endorsed by the Sierra Club and the Labor Council, among others. Also, I live near the Olympic View School, and you would be horrified in the mornings to see little tiny kids walking to school, literally, in the ditch, because there are no sidewalks till a few blocks north of the school. It's absolutely ridiculous.

3. Yes on Prop 1; No on Ref 1...maybe
i'm pretty sure that i have those right. Prop 1 is the transportation, Ref 1 is the titty bars.

i think.

4. This is the pothole bill I am talking about
It just ticks me off that Mayor Nickels wants to use special levies for every-day things that should be fixed through the general funds, but then uses those funds to subsidize his pet projects, like the South Lake Union/Paul Allen trolley.

I am against pothole and for bike trails. I just feel like this eternal sucker who always votes for increased taxes for things that should be run in a more efficient manner. Special levies should be for special projects. But we are suckers, and Nickels knows it.

It's not just Nickels. It was the same with the Commons vote. The council made a no vote seem to be a referedum against open spaces. Hogwash.

So, I voted no, in my pathetic attempt at a slap-down to Nickels. I'm sure it will pass, and I'm happy to pay my fair share of taxes. I just don't like the way this is done. Very cynical.
