Several Western Washington polling places will likely be affected by local flooding. Here's more information on polling places likely to be affected and what you can do to still make your vote count.
King County

Potential flooding of the Snoqualmie and Tolt rivers could impact voters heading to the polls on election day in the Carnation, Fall City and Snoqualmie areas.

Snoqualmie Elementary School, 39801 SE Park St., has been closed and voters will be routed to Snoqualmie Fire Station at 37600 SE Snoqualmie Parkway in Snoqualmie.

Other affected polling places near the Snoqualmie and Tolt rivers:

* River View School Dist. Office, Carnation
* Fall City Elementary, Fall City
* Fall City Fire Station Dist. 27, Fall City

Polling places not in danger

* of flooding but may have road access issues:
* Stillwater Elementary, Carnation
* Vincent Community Club, Carnation

Voters who are affected by the flooding have many options for casting a ballot. These options include:
* Request an e-mail ballot. Voters can request a ballot online at this link Requests received by 7 p.m. today (11/06/06) will be e-mailed a ballot and affidavit to return. All ballots must be postmarked by Election Day. E-mailed ballots will be set aside to ensure the voters' registration status.
* Request a one-time absentee ballot in person. King County Elections will be open until 7 p.m. tonight (11/06/06) to accommodate voters living in the affected flooding areas. Enter the King County Administration Building through the Third Avenue entrance of the King County Courthouse after 6 p.m. Today is the last day for poll voters to request an absentee ballot.
* Cast a provisional ballot at any polling place between 7 a.m. and 8 p.m. on Election Day. Nearby polling locations are listed below. Voters can also call the Voter Hotline at 206-296-VOTE (8683) until 7 p.m. today or between 7 a.m. and 8 p.m. on Election Day.

If a polling place is not accessible due to flooding, voters can cast a provisional ballot at any polling place. Voters are encouraged to use the online tool, Your Voter Guide, to create a sample ballot with the candidates and measures on their ballot. Voters should download, print and bring the sample ballot to their polling place and write-in the race and candidate choices.

Voters not able to vote at their assigned polling place still have several options to cast their ballot, including:

* Request an e-mail ballot. Voters can request a ballot by e-mail at pcauditor@co.pierce.wa.us . All ballots must be postmarked by Election Day.
* Request a one-time absentee ballot in person at the Pierce County Auditor's Office, 2401 So. 35th St., Room 200, Tacoma, WA. Pierce County Elections will be open at 7 a.m. on election day to accommodate voters affected by flooding.
* Cast a provisional ballot at any polling place between 7 a.m. and 8 p.m. on Election Day. Contact the Pierce County Auditor's Office for the nearest polling location. Call 253-798-7430, 253-798-3189 or 1-800-446-4979.

Thanks for the information. I live six miles above Duvall and we don't have television so I wasn't aware that my son's school was closed. I thought we had missed his bus so I tried to drive him to school. That's when I got to see first hand how bad it is down in Duvall and that there is only one road out at this point. I've never had a voting day complicated by this.
