Campaign to pass simple majorites starts 5/17/07 in SeaTac
Dear Friends:

This year, we took an historic step for our public schools. After years of trying, this Legislature got the votes necessary to place a constitutional amendment to allow school levies to pass with a simple majority on the ballot.

Now comes the hard work.

Please join us for the initial steering committee meeting of the campaign to pass Simple Majority:

Where: Tyee High School Cafeteria
4424 S. 188th St.
Seatac, Washington

When: Thursday, May 17th, 2:30 – 4 p.m.

Last year, 225 school district levies were considered by voters. One in seven of those levies failed, even though all but ONE received majority support from local voters. Every year, school districts across Washington fail local levies even though they have support from 56%, 57% or even 59% of voters.

Our public schools are facing a funding crisis
Local levies support basic needs
When levies fail, kids get hurt
When levies fail, our money is wasted

We are determined to mount an aggressive, grassroots effort that will focus on mobilizing every pro-education voter in the state. But we need your help.

We would be honored to have you help us kick-off this campaign and hope you can join us on the 17th. Please RSVP by replying to this email, or calling (206) 658-5211.

Thank you very much.

Speaker of the House Frank Chopp
Senator Tracey Eide
Senator Shay Schual-Berke
