Gregoire needs help this weekend!
Did you think the 2004 election was over?

Think again.

Right now we are racing the clock - and we need your help to make sure that every vote is counted.

County auditors have received many absentee ballots sent by voters who forgot to sign the envelope. The good news is that these voters get a chance to correct that mistake so their ballots can be counted.

This election could come down to a few hundred votes. These absentee ballots may determine whether Chris Gregoire is sworn in as Governor when January arrives.

You have been a loyal and crucial part of our campaign. Now we need you to turn out for one final volunteer effort.

We must reach every one of these voters this weekend. We have their names and addresses. But we need your help to find these voters, explain the law to them, and get them into the county auditors’ offices so their votes can be counted.

Details on volunteering are below.

1. What about the provisional ballots?
http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/local/199370_governor12.html

This article says that King County won't provide the names of provisional voters whose ballots were rejected. Unfortunately the article does not give the web site or phone number where voters who cast provisional ballots can check to see if their ballots were rejected, and then challenge that rejection.

We need to have that information and then canvass to find out who may have cast provisional ballots and encourage them to find out if their ballot was accepted or rejected.

4. They have it under control
(a) The State Democratic Party's crack legal bulldogs won the case you linked to -- I guess the Co. must have turned over that list by now!

(b) The right place to get information about who is being contacted is at canvasser training this morning at 10am at the Aerospace Machinist's Hall.

6. I did phonebanking Sunday--
--at the Machinists' Hall and personally recovered 8 votes for Gregoire on a single sheet. There were 20 people in the room, so if they all did that well, that's 160. In addition, there were teams of canvassers going out separately. Wish I could do something during the week, but there is no way I can get off of work.
