State's population growth fastest since the early '90s
Say hello to the 120,000 new Washingtonians who arrived here in the past year.

Among them are people who were born here, but most of the new residents picked up and moved from other states or countries.

Many of those who moved here were Californians — an estimated 38,000, according to driver's license records — hoping to find a job in the state's improving economy.

If the 120,000 incorporated their own city, it would be the fifth-largest in the state.

A robust job market also was reflected in the state population numbers announced this week, which showed Washington added more residents in the past year than it has since the early 1990s.

2. What do you think it all means?
Edited on Mon Jul-03-06 09:32 PM by Wash. state Desk Jet
Port Authority here being tops in the nation . Rapid grouth. More corperation expansion. Companys being attracted to Washington. What about the electorial? I wonder if the republicans think that the , what is that NEWBE-s, or new commers are moreso inclined to be republicans? What does all this mean? I mean isn,t it a good thing? How about those BanDino,s? Are they forming a welcome wagon? Rather a secret at this point? What about Spokane , West refered to it as a city of about two hundred thousand ? How about grouth and expansion on the eastern end? What about magic MaGavic? How about the shipping capital of the country being Los Angelous not New York anymore, reguards the transfer of power back in the eightys. How does this effect western Washington? What about Los Angelous, in that it grew and grew until Los Angelous county or city limets strech to San Diago? A Megga something or other? What about a megga megga Seattle? Isn,t pondering interesting? Once you make it to the Super Bowl, anything is possible.

4. I KNEW the traffic had gotten worse in the past 3 years!!
the traffic seems to get worse every year.. and now I know it's not my imagination! Seriously.. most of those folks are in that Edmonds to Tacoma corridor... so it makes sense. Glad we have abundant housing here.. but I'm still trying to figure out where those mysterious jobs are...

5. I confess my husband and I are two of them!!
We semi retired here from CA, I am from wine country raised in Napa and lived in Santa Rosa last 25 years or so. We have a lot of family trying to get us up here for last 30 yrs, finally did. Family in Seattle & Spokane, we retired to Leavenworth.

Believe me it is very challenging from a political viewpoint once you cross the passes. I am doing my part to try to talk to the diehard repubs around here...I had a interesting discussion with this older man who was reading Godless by the wacko lady...

We changed our plates asap...being from CA isn't the thing to shout out around here!! lol

I have made some good friends and political contacts in the area. House is just being finished this week, so soon I will have more time for volunteering again.

We vacation in Napa frequently.
