Kirkland house fire kills 4 (father serving in Iraq)

Four people, two adults and two children, died today when a fire raced through a Kirkland home in the 9400 block of Slater Avenue near Interstate 405, KING 5 television news reported.

The fire, which started before noon, heavily damaged the home.

The identities of the victims were not immediately available, but fire officials said that all of the victims were found on the home's second floor and there was no 911 call from inside the residence.

Neighbors said the children's father is currently in Iraq.

Wonder what the heck happened that no one called 911. And the father.....oh God. How awful for him.

3. Creepy - apparently they were stabbed before the fire...

The four people found dead in a Kirkland home fire Monday were all stabbed to death before the blaze, Kirkland police said today.

The King County Medical Examiner's Office determined all four victims, including two children, were stabbed several times in the neck, police said at news conference today.

A search warrant was served at a Kirkland residence and one man was arrested for investigation of arson and homicide.

The home belonged to a soldier serving in Iraq, his wife and their two children. The victims were the young mother, her two young children and her sister, the medical examiner's office confirmed.
