Lost cause

GOP’s efforts should focus on local races, not Byrd

It didn’t take long for Secretary of State Betty Ireland to smell the coffee.

The 59-year-old Ireland made it official Thursday that she would not be the GOP’s prime candidate to run against Sen. Robert C. Byrd in 2006.

So it’s back to the drawing board for the national Republican Party, which has openly said it is targeting Byrd’s seat.

You know, it’s tough to place a target on something — let alone hit it — if you don’t shoot anything but blanks.
(snip/...)

1. Well at least they've still got Rick Snuffer
out there howling about the greatness of George's patriotic war and how Harry Potter's demonic and inspired by Satan. Wonder why the RNC won't get behind him?

3. Am I the only one who thinks...
Robert Byrd should retire? don't get me wrong I have nothing againist Senator Byrd, he's my favorite Senator it's just i'm looking out for his health, I mean the man is 87 years old with Parkinson disease, his whole body shakes, he has to walk with two canes, it takes him atleast 5 minutes to finish a paragraph.

I'm just want him to enjoy the years he has left with his family that's all.

please note: I wasn't bashing Senator Byrd in any way possible.

4. Apparently so.......
Public service is his life and I think he's perfectly content doing his job now. Parkinson's be damned; he may be slower because of it, but it certainly hasn't dulled his wits. You go, Bob.
