Let's Gooooooooooooooooooo Mountaineers!
God, I despise Pitt!

It's almost six p.m. now. I can scarcely imagine the atmosphere at Mountaineer Field. I'm jumpy as a whore in church.

May have to have a little o' Granny's room-a-tiz medicine just to settle the nerves!

1. Ahhhhh, that was refreshing!
Nothing like stomping the living guts out of Pitt to round out a perfect Thanksgiving Day!

On to South Florida!

2. Whatta game!!
The final score does not reflect the true nature of the game, particularly the first half. Pitt came to Morgantown to play ball, as always.

I was afraid they were going to overwhelm us with their passing game, and they put up a pretty good running attack in the first part of the second half. But too bad, they choked and started turning the ball over.

Pat White was awesome! If he improves his passing, I don't see how anybody can stop him. As it was, he was able to run the ball almost at will. Pitt had no answer for that.

In the end, Pitt looked like they had been jerked through a knothole. Thanks to WVU's conditioning and stamina, we just outlasted them on both offense and defense.

Not as exciting as our awesome Louisville victory, but still a great game to watch!

Boy, I hope we can prevail against South Florida. They won't be easy.

3. I would feel a lot better
if Connecticut would go ahead and do us a good turn by beating South Florida at UConn Saturday. Then we could go to SFla with nothing more on our minds than just beating them.

If Pat White can improve his passing, we've got one of the most potent offensive attacks in the nation.

Did you happen to notice the chatter between Tirico and Herbstreit about whether the Mounties would "get their doors blown off" by LSU or Georgia in the Sugar Bowl?

Truly, we *are* the Rodney Dangerfields of college football: no respect!

4. Yeah, I picked up on that
Tirico and Herbstreit are a couple of jackasses. Many announcers indulge themselves too much in interviews, talking about other games, sharing their personal lives, etc. when they are supposed to be covering the game. But these guys took it to another level.

Shut up already about the cornball pie thing that nobody cares about. It's just stupid. If they were going to make such a big deal about it they should have gone to more trouble than stopping at the 7/11 on the way in and picking out the cheapest ones they could find.

Did you notice the woman they had down on the field, talking about the "western Virginia" team? Where did they get her? Wonder where she played college football? She didn't even know what state she was in.

But their crowning achievement was when they showed, at length and repeatedly, the film of the pickup game they and their crew had played earlier that day - complete with live shots of all their crew, manning the cameras. I felt like I had been dragged in by a neighbor to watch home movies of their vacation! We even missed a couple of plays while they indulged themselves in their vain corruption of sports broadcasting! As I screamed repeatedly at the TV during that particular stunt, "Shuuuuutt uuuuuuupp!!

5. Western Virginia team?
Would that be JMU, Virginia Tech, or UVA? Or, goddess forbid, Radford?

6. South Florida will be a challenge, but have faith. It'll be a good
practice run for the Sugar Bowl.

8. We got the break we needed today
South Florida was hopelessly daunted by the cold.

How 'bout them Huskies!

UConn 15 USF 10.

Mountaineers . . . Big East Champions!

Now Rich has to keep the team focused on still beating USF. If they play like they did against Pitt, and USF plays like they did against UConn, it could be a rout.

Let's Goooooooooooooooooooooo, Mountaineers!

9. Wow, I can't believe UConn beat South Florida
That's one of the great things about college football, any team really has a chance to beat any other team on a good day.

Bad news, looks like the USF game is not going to be televised, boo hoo.

So I guess our most likely BCS game will be LSU in the Sugar Bowl.

10. Don't think Georgia has a prayer against LSU
in next week's SEC championship?

It's a pretty high hill to climb either way, but somehow, I think I'd rather face Georgia. Auburn's ground game chewed them to pieces.

11. Georgia has a chance
It's about as likely as UConn beating South Florida, which was a surprise. I'm also hoping LSU has a bad day and we end up facing Georgia. We shall see. I really hope we win this bowl game.

Know how WVU football teams are like marijuana?

12. I'm gonna hate like hell if GA beats LSU. I can root against
LSU, but I grew up in the south worshipping at the alter of Vince Dooley.

That would suck for me. I'd still pull for my WVU alma mater, but...

13. Either way, we need to earn more respect
My main focus right now is South Florida. There's been a lot of criticism of WVU. Some think we're not good enough to have received a BCS berth, yada yada yada. An upset by South Florida this Saturday would add fuel to that fire. And for once in my life I would very much like to see a WVU bowl victory.

16. Reminds me of another one
What do Billy Graham and the WVU football team have in common?

They can both get a stadium full of people to jump to their feet and shout "Jesus Christ!".

(I think I first heard that one back in the Frank Cignetti era!)

17. Hope we win the bowl game
Then maybe we can retire our jokes instead of hauling them out again every year. I am hopeful. I think Rodriguez is a better coach than Don Nehlen.

18. Yay, we just beat South Florida!
We've finished up the regular season 10 - 1, & 7 - 0 in the Big East! We've won the undisputed Big East title. We're ranked #12 right now, and might even move up one or 2 places on Monday. Not bad for a team that's essentially in a rebuilding year.

#13 Georgia upseat #3 LSU tonight, 34 to 14. Sorry, WildClarySage, I know you hated that. But this means we'll face Georgia in the Sugar Bowl on Sunday, January 2 at 8:30 PM.

20. just wait until next year
we should start the season with a top 15 ranking in the very least-I'd say top 10 but we all know how much respect the Big East is getting right now

I'd say we will challenge for the national championship within two years
