Businessman Raese may run for Byrd's seat
John Raese, Morgantown businessman and former political candidate, is considering running against U.S. Sen. Robert Byrd.

Raese's assistant, Pam Bossio, said today, "He has talked to me about that. He is contemplating that, but will not make a decision until later this month."

State Republican Chairman Rob Capehart said he had heard rumors of Raese's plans, but had not had any conversation with him about it.

An item in the Hotline of the National Journal Monday said, "'84 nominee/'88 "GOV candidate/ex-WV GOP chair/millionaire businessman John Raese is "poised to enter" the race.
