Charleston Gazette poll: Callaghan 56% Capito 39%

I don't put much stock in online polls but here ya go:

If the election were held today for the Second Congressional District who would you vote for?

Mike Callaghan 741 votes / 56%

Shelley Moore Capito 514 votes / 39%

Undecided 47 votes / 3%

I just checked, the current results are:

Mike Callaghan 856 votes / 55%

Shelley Moore Capito 619 votes / 40%

Undecided 51 votes / 3%

1531 total votes

Dare we hope? A grain of salt is called for. Most members of the Family Values party take the Daily Mail and not the Gazette. Also, the stupidest people on earth tend to be Republics, lacking the basic mental capabilities to access the internet.

5. Update: Callaghan 53% Capito 42% with 1730 votes

Mike Callaghan 930 votes / 53%

Shelley Moore Capito 742 votes / 42%

Undecided 53 votes / 3%

1730 total votes

When I first posted results of this poll on 10/25/06, Callaghan led by 227 votes and 17%

By 10/26/06 there were 225 more total votes. 115 of them went to Callaghan and 105 to Capito. Callaghan maintained a 15% advantage.

And now we find 199 more total votes. Callaghan got only 74 of them and Capito got 123. Callaghan's lead has now been reduced to 11%.

I wonder why Capito got 66% more votes than Callaghan since yesterday, when the 10/26/06 update showed that the additional votes were evenly split? Maybe the freepers are piling on, maybe not. I don't think the Gazette has a cutoff on their polls, so it will be somewhat interesting to watch this.

7. Shellie is spending some big bucks and her ads are on nonstop.

Between Schmellie and Don Blanketyblank I can't turn on the local TV trash. And even my telephone is under attack.

8. Well Mike has started to run ads now.

He's saved a some of what little bit of money he has, so that he can run these ads right before the election. Seems a common strategy for those who are out-funded.
