Does KDKA 1020 cover much WV-area news? Election not top story in 10PM bulletin
First of all, congrats Earl Ray Tomlin for winning an election after serving as interim governor. Anyway I live in California and was walking home at 6PM (Pacific time, or 9PM Eastern) and on my smartphone tuned into KDKA 1020, Pittsburgh's news station, to find news about the WV gubernatorial special election. That station all the way to eastern Ohio. The 9PM Eastern bulletin did not mention the election at all, and the results were announced at 9:45 Eastern. On the 10PM bulletin, the WV election was placed after a Pittsburgh-area crime story about an international fugitive, Chris Christie not running for president, and Amanda Knox returning home.

It's hard to come across real news on the radio unless you're in a big metro area, otherwise the news comes between 45 minutes of right-wing trash talk everywhere else.

1. I'm near Charleston, so that's too far north for me.

The national media was poised for a frenzy over the rethug upset they'd hoped for. When they didn't get it they didn't seem to spend much time reporting the result. I was surprised the LBN story didn't even get any time at the top of DU's home page.

(Fair disclosure: It's my LBN OP that I'm talking about.)

There is no doubt, however, that this Democratic victory was a real big deal and warrants some reflection. Tomblin owes his victory to a http://www.wvgazette.com/News/201110053938">landslide in the southern part of the state - union country. And he had to distance himself from Obama in order to win.
