the GOP will target senator byrd. they're riding high on their margin of victory in wv and bush wants him gone

no longstanding republican will want to risk a run against a long-standing incumbent, so basically, they'll run an empty brent benjamin type against him, then pour on the negtive ads through fron groups like the so-called 'for the sake of the children"

senator byrd usually finishes strong, but mark my words, this will be the race of his life

the left in wv needs to begin fundraising yesterday. byrd is a hero to the antiwar movement nationwide. i'm sure a lot of out of state folks will be more than gload to counter the imminent gop wave of non-wv cash that will go against him

2. e-voting
I see WV is about 70% evoting by optical equipement. Aren't they showing up in the current election with strange shift. I believe the NH recount is based on that theory. Good luck !

8. and...
Marion County also used touch screens. that's two counties that used touch screens and 28 counties that used optical scan ballots. check out the data i've compiled for west virginia here:

I looked at the table you made. I can't get over how high over 100% the repubs got of the vote in several counties! Ok, now, I can see it when it's just slightly over 100%, for idiots that voted outside thier party for the shrub. But over 130%? Over 200%?!! Damn.

BTW, Jefferson county here.. we used punch cards. Ya know, with the hanging chads. :eyes:

11. ah..
Mercer county here. we used punch cards as well.. i made damn sure there were no hanging chads on my ballot! but yes, it is quite amazing how the change in percentages went to Bush. If there seems to be such a discrepency in this little state of WV is there not a good chance that this could be a nationwide phenomenon?

just think about it. supposedly Bush beat Kerry by some 4 million votes. 4,000,000 votes / 50 states (not including D.C.) and you get 80,000 votes per state that Bush would have to steal to get the 4 million lead that he currently has. I do believe there was evidence in a Florida county where 88,000 votes were given to Bush. That's one state down, 49 to go :p

i just think that it is very possible for something like this to occur, it doesn't seem all that hard to just make up 80,000 votes per state seeing how 70% of the votes in the US were done electronically.

9. actually...
it's more like 55% of WV used electronic voting (either touch screen or optical scan) 30 of the 55 counties in WV use it. WV generally is a democratic state which is why i've done the research that i did to show that there is a chance of there being anomolies in the counties that used optical scan ballots.

the NH recount is based on the fact that Ralph Nader knows that it is NH law that regardless of voting system all votes must have a paper trail (this includes touch screens and optical scan ballots). If Nader can prove fraud in NH then there would be reason to believe that fraud took place around the US.

6. cabell and marion use touchscreen
only ones in the state to have 100% touchscreen. a lot of counties harrison and monongalia are probably going to touchscreen by '06 or '08. In mon county early voters voted touchscreen. the people of west virginia will never turn against byrd. you can't throw a rock in west virginia and not hit something named after him. i think he will retire though so that he can hand pick his successor instead of the risk of dying in office and having joe "forces of evil" manchin name his successor.

12. they'll put up a benjamin type
who goes under the radar and benefits from a negative ad blitz by so-called 'outside groups'

dont think it won't happen. according to the ny times, they're planning it. we need to start planning our defense NOW

13. If he runs...
I thought 2000 was his last race when Wise traed the US Congress for the Governor's Mansion. He kind of screwed the governorship as a platform for the Senate though.

I thought he was.

If he does run, I figure we will win by at least 21 points.

15. Manchin appoints
Byrd dies in office and Manchin appoints a replacement for the remainder of his term. Manchin will appoint himself. Earl Ray Tomlin will be governor.

16. Now that's a scarey thought. Peckerwood Joe in the Senate
I have a buddy who went to school with him and he said he was dumb as a sled track. Copied off my buddy all the time to pass. Can you tell I have been voting Mt. Party ever since the Charlotte / Cecil race?
Also on election night after the Gazette endorsed Underwood over Pritt I said if she lost I'd never buy another copy of the Gazette again, and I haven't.
