Insurance commissioner could become elected office

There was little support in the House of Delegates Thursday for a change in how retailers buy beer throughout the state, but support seemed to be building for a constitutional amendment to allow voters to elect the state insurance commissioner.

Delegate Rick Thompson, D-Wayne, announced on the House floor he will file a joint resolution calling for the insurance commissioner to be elected and be a member of the Board of Public Works.

He noted the recently passed workers’ compensation reforms place much of that office under the commissioner, and controversy surrounding insurance rates and civil justice reform, or tort reform, is coming from that office.

Since the good commissioner generally comes down on the side of whomever has the big bucks now days, it may be best for we the people! I'd like to see the new "Social Security Plan" put before the voters also! Of course now that the dark side controls the voting machinery nationwide, I doubt the little guy will ever win again! I strongly suspect any issue anyone in our government wants us to vote on now! Sorry...but I can't help it!

I hope Diebold takes better care with our money than it does with our votes!
