http://www.wvgazette.com/section/News/Today/2005030346There was little support in the House of Delegates Thursday for a change in how retailers buy beer throughout the state, but support seemed to be building for a constitutional amendment to allow voters to elect the state insurance commissioner.
Delegate Rick Thompson, D-Wayne, announced on the House floor he will file a joint resolution calling for the insurance commissioner to be elected and be a member of the Board of Public Works.
He noted the recently passed workers’ compensation reforms place much of that office under the commissioner, and controversy surrounding insurance rates and civil justice reform, or tort reform, is coming from that office.
