 I should give some. Kathleen Dunn is a great host and I really like her program.

1. Yeah, but they don't want "some". They want like $120 for a minimum
donation. Sure, they say they'll accept any amount, but they are always going for the big cheese on their drives.

7. RE: "But WPR cancelled its on-air fund raiser, didn''t it?"
It was WUWM that cancelled it's on-air fundaiser, not Wisconsin Public Radio...

3. I listen to WPR on occassion and agree
Dunn is good. Much of their programming is good. Is it what it used to be? No, but a lot of that change is national and due to pressure from above. It still has something to offer and is worth some contribution if you can swing it.

4. Again?
Cripes. WPR has more--and longer--pledge drives than any other public radio network on the planet. But yeah, we give--despite detesting Ben Marens, Larry Meiller and the unspeakably insufferable Jean Feraca. Generally, I think their local programming stinks. Garden Talk? Are you kidding me? We get the replay of "On Point" in the evening--we get no "The Connection," and "Morning Edition" runs from four freaking a.m. 'til eight. Who the fuck is up at four a.m.? We do listen to NPR, though, and that's worth a donation.

10. Garden Talk, Calling All Pets, People's Pharmacy, Zorba Paster
are all weekend shows that need to be reprogrammed with something better for the "Ideas Network". They are far from intellecual stimulating.

5. Pulled our monthly donation last year protesting Joy Cardin's shenanigans
Haven't heard a good reason to go back yet.

I value public radio, don't get me wrong. For more than a decade I was an avid listener and contributor. I even like Larry Meillor's show. But I'm done funding programming that hold up quacks, corporate/PAC shills and extremists as if what they spew is as valuable as, and somehow has equal footing with, facts and evidence and the truths derived therefrom.

The opinion that the earth is flat might make for interesting discussion, but it in no way resembles the truth. WPR has become a medium supporting hucksters rather than debunking them and I refuse to support unless they change.

9. Yeah, I noticed that.
I've caught a few of his shows in the last few weeks and he was downright nasty in several senses of the word. Not the interviewer he used to be just a couple of years ago. I used to love to hear him fill in for Dunn.

Must be something in the water.

8. Being able to listen near the boarder and online
Cardin overall stinks, Dunn is very good, Merens stinks overall, Jean Fereca (Here on Earth) is topic by topic, and Dave Berkman (Media Talk) is very good. I almost never catch the shows live, I look at the daily lineup and pick and choose topics and listen to the good ones online.

I pledge to MPR, not WPR, though WPR is still better than North Dakota Public Radio.

11. I never heard if they got their goal or not
but WPR still lags quite a bit to MPR. There are some good shows now and then but it is still not as good.
