Winter Driving reminders
Edited on Wed Nov-16-05 09:32 AM by ewagner
from our local paper with a little snark for our neighbors from Illinois

http://www.wisinfo.com/newsherald/mnhopinion/284719492219767.shtml

snippett:

Longtime residents of the Badger state pride themselves on their winter driving abilities.

They're baffled when entire cities and states shut down, as Indiana did last season, when a few inches of snow fall. We snicker when we see cars stuffed in snowbanks with just their trunks and Illinois license plates exposed to passing traffic.

We just soldier on, taking the worst winter has to offer in stride - except during these first few weeks.

edited for emphasis....

1. So true ewagner . . .
we truly "soldier on". Virtually nothing stops us from driving, anywhere and anytime. Guess Wisconsinites just know how to drive in inclement weather!

3. someone went off the road not to far from my house last night
I had to go out in that awful weather to get my son from a school program at 10:00 last night. The roads were terrible and I was more afraid of going into the high school parking lot knowing that most of the drivers there had little to no experience in winter driving, much less driving in really bad winter conditions. We got 3/4 of an inch of moisture last night, there was about 6 inches of snow when I went out.
Someone had spun off the road and they had it blocked and they weren't letting us through, I finally turned around and took the back way. I think it was better that I had to wait ten minutes at the accident because the parking lot was pretty cleared out by the time I got there.
My boys were sad this morning when they had to get up and go to school - they were hoping for a snow day.
