5th District People: Hit Sensenbrenner Hard
The revelations about domestic spying and Bush's combative stance on Saturday make this a good time to inundate Big Jim with e-mails. Sure, he'll spin and pontificate, but he led the charge to renew the Patriot Act; make him explain himself now. His address is sensenbrenner@mail.house.gov and make sure you include your name and address so he knows you're a constituent.

1. I'll do it!
I love being a thorn in his side. His responses are full of the most illogical crap.

Got any ideas?

2. He's an idiot, so the usual rules don't apply...
.... such as intellectual discourse. All he values is keeping his seat in Congress. That means voter anger scares the hell out of him. I even know conservatives in Waukesha County who are nervous about the Patriot Act... look at Bob Barr's reaction...and Sensenbrenner has been willing to sell-out the 4th Amendment.

My gut instinct is that snail-mail and phone calls might have a greater impact than e-mail; they take more effort and might show great anger & sincerity. Ultimately, though, any contact is better than nothing.

If we can't get a Democrat to break the GOP lock on this district, I wish a moderate, honest, non-filthy rich Republican* would try for it.

<* I'll do the punchline for you: "Are there any?">

3. I've thought of a bumpersticker
"SensenbrennerEmbarrassesMe.com"

Then post a webpage with all the reasons.

4. Remember Bryan Kennedy
We don't need or want a Republican. Bryan is working hard on his campaign, has already put up TV ads, and will win for us Democrats this time around.

5. I haven't forgotten him but.....
.... we have to face the fact that this district is overwhelmingly Republican. Waukesha County? Washington County? The north shore of Milwaukee? Ozaukee County? There aren't enough Democrats and independents to overcome this solid GOP block. Before him we had Glenn Davis in congress, and he was even worse... didn't matter. Sensenbrenner started out as my state assemblyman when I was still in grade school, and he's never lost an election. He really has nothing going for him except he's rich, conservative, and a Republican. And that's all that matters around here.

6. I'm mailing a letter tomorrow...you can too!
And I'm quoting heavily from his opening statement during the Clinton Impeachment Hearings.

"…The framers of the Constitution devised an elaborate system of checks and balances to ensure our liberty by making sure that no person, institution or branch of government became so powerful that a tyranny could be established in the United States of America. Impeachment is one of the checks the framers gave the Congress to prevent the executive or judicial branches from becoming corrupt or tyrannical. Today, based upon the evidence that the president lied, obstructed and abused power in an effort to prevent the court from administering equal justice under law, I cast my vote in favor of impeaching William Jefferson Clinton."
