Anybody else fed up with the Cheneying Swift boat ads?
They are an epidemic on the Green Bay stations that I watch - played several times during the evening news and interspesrsed with the "call your senators to stop fillibustering judicial apointments" crap. Isn't it fun to be in one of the three states targeted for this drivel?

1. You will be seeing them over and over and over...
From Josh Marsall tonight

I just saw a preview of a study that finds the Swift Boat ads quite effective among independents in raising doubts about John Kerry's war record. And that suggests that Karl Rove will want to send more money toward the group running the ad.

3. It's times like this I'm happy for satellite from outside the US
I only see them on the local "news," which I hardly ever see anymore. I wish WBAY would refuse the money. It's filthy money.

4. My mom just sent a letter to the editor about this
It will be interesting to see if the Wausau Daily Herald prints it. She called and asked to be a "guest editor", they sais will check it out and let her know. If they don't want it for the guest editor spot they will shorten it and run it as a letter.
Editor:

The Swift Boat Veterans for Truth (SBVFT) have hit a new low with their ad. This ad is brought to us by the same group that smeared Senator McCain in the 2000 election. The ad is financed by a group of wealthy Republicans who have donated heavily to Bush. McCain has condemned the ad and wants it stopped.
The SBVFT say they served with Kerry. They may have been in Viet Nam at the same time as Kerry but not one of them was on either of the two Swift boats Kerry commanded.
Louis Letson claims Kerry did not deserve the first Purple Heart and he treated Kerry for wounds. Kerry’s sick call sheet was signed by another doctor and there is no documentation Letson was even present.
Admiral Lonsdale recently stated, “Kerry lacks the capacity to lead.” However, in 1996 he called Kerry courageous.
George Elliot, who recommended Kerry for the Silver Star, said in the ad Kerry has not been honest about what happened in Nam. In 1996 Elliot said, “In a combat environment often requiring independent, decisive action LTJG Kerry was unsurpassed.” Elliot has twice changed his recent statements about Kerry. Admiral Zumwalt awarded Kerry the Silver and Bronze Stars. “Kerry’s calmness, professionalism and great courage under fire were in keeping with the highest traditions of the US Naval Service.”
Van O”Dell says Kerry lied to get his Bronze Star. Kerry did not nominate himself for this award. That was done by James Rassmann whom he pulled from the water while undergoing heavy fire.
The SWVFT claim Kerry lied when he talked about atrocities committed by some of the US forces. Tommy Franks and Colin Powell verify this happened. Lt. Calley was imprisoned for committing just such acts.
The SBVFT have accused the Navy of awarding medals without merit. In doing so they cast a cloud over all the medals won by courageous acts of those in the service. How dare they! Must we now investigate the Navy and all the medals they have awarded?
The true facts show Kerry deserved his medals. This is backed by statements made Admirals Zumwalt and Hyland, the US Navy and those who actually served with Kerry. This ad is a disgrace and should be viewed as nothing more than lies to discredit a true war hero, John Kerry.
