When Gwen Moore talks about social issues, she's talking about her life.
Poverty, welfare, teen pregnancy, single parenthood, child sexual abuse, redlining, underfunded urban schools - Moore's been there.
More than any other candidate in Tuesday's 4th Congressional District primary, the Democratic state senator is touting her "street cred" - the credibility that comes from firsthand experience.
In candidate forums, interviews and campaign commercials, Moore tells her story.
Moore's political career started when she was elected student council president at Milwaukee's North Division High School. She pushed the Milwaukee Public Schools to replace the aging building and to buy textbooks that recognized black history didn't end with slavery.
