National GOP group cancels ads for Michels
'Limited resources,' races in other states among the reasons

In a blow to the campaign of Republican U.S. Senate candidate Tim Michels, a national GOP group has canceled more than $1.2 million in television advertising that was set to run on his behalf in the coming weeks.

"At this current time, we are not putting the money behind the time we had reserved," said Dan Allen, a spokesman for the National Republican Senatorial Committee.

"I think we're assessing the playing field on a day-to-day basis from state to state and we feel like we have a lot of opportunities, including Wisconsin," he said. "We also know we have limited resources."

The Republicans control the Senate by only a single seat and are locked in tough races in Oklahoma, Alaska and Colorado, and are expected to lose a seat in Illinois.

on the radio on the way over to Green Bay this morning......

(3-hour CEU conference starting at 9AM....so left home at 6AM)

The repubs finally figured out they nominated an idiot...don't waste money in Wisconsin against Feingold...spend it somewhere else....

btw: NRA is spending about $12 Million in WI ads against Kerry. They aren't targeting Russ...just Kerry. Interesting strategy.

on edit: On the way home saw a lady with a big Kerry Window sign in her car on Hwy 29...she turned off going toward Bowler...I came by her, honked and gave a BIG thumbs-up.

Saw only ONE B/C bumper sticker on the whole trip...on a brand new Audi A6 in Green Bay.

methinks the RNC was also a little underwhelmed with Michels' debate performances...not that they have any standards anyway!
