Weenie running for Congress in 8th District against Steve Kagen
Veteran GOP state legislator John Gard is renewing his bid for the Congressional seat currently occupied by incumbent Democrat Steve Kagen.

GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) - Veteran GOP state legislator John Gard is renewing his bid for the Congressional seat currently occupied by incumbent Democrat Steve Kagen. The former speaker of the state Assembly was in Green Bay on Sunday afternoon to officially announce his candidacy for the seat this fall. Gard says he offers voters a clear contrast with the Appleton native and promised a campaign focused on the issues. Gard said he'll bring tax relief and fiscal order. The 44-year-old Gard was narrowly defeated in 2006 by Kagen, who garnered 51 percent of the vote. It was one of the costliest congressional races in the state. Kagen released a statement Sunday that didn't mention Gard by name. He said there was still work to do, such as reducing skyrocketing prices for gas and health care.

1. So Gard is going to bring tax relief and fiscal order all on his own?
What exactly did he do as a state legislator?

2. It's a clear contrast alright.
Kagen is a fantastic congressman and 2 years later Gard apparently still hasn't found a job. You can bet everyone in the state legislature is just glad he's not running for a seat there again.

Its a riot for any Republican to talk about fiscal responsibility after what the Bush administration has spent on this ridiculous war.

9. He is really an excellent representative-
he speaks his mind and comes up with a lot of good bills. Its hard to believe this is only his first term- he has gotten so much done. The whole state can be proud of Dr. Kagen. :patriot:
