Action Alert for Sept. 9 in Sensenbrenner's district
To follow up on my other post about the Dem candidate who just announced against Sensenbrenner, I've been told that if he gets 1000 write-in votes tomorrow he can get on the ballot in November. So do what you can to get out the vote tomorrow, because it's SO much better to have your name on the ballot than to run as a write-in.

What to write on your ballot tomorrow under U.S. Congress in the Dem portion of the ballot: Doug Cvetkovich

1. Still waiting on a website for him or something...
anything?

I mean I will write him in, but I'd like to know who I am supporting.

3. The website will be coming
It takes a while to get together something good. Meanwhile, thanks for the support. If Howard Dean has taught us anything, it's that you need to show up and contest every election even if the odds are long. Sometimes it even works out!

2. Senslessbrainer is too entrenched.
It would take a major scandal to dislodge that fat fuck from his seat.
Sorry, just being a realist.

4. senselessbrenner's district
I'll be voting for Jim Burkee tomorrow.

If Burkee wins tomorrow - F. Jim won't even be on the ballot in November and I'll take that over writing in a last minute candidate any day.

8. Some of those are cross-over Dems
Hard to say how many, but I talked to one today. He agreed with Bryan's strategy.

Some Dems living in the 5th had contested primaries and wouldn't have wanted to cross over--Menomonee Falls, part of Waukesha, and the North Shore. I've been glad that I don't live in the latter district, because two of the four Dems running for Sheldon Wasserman's seat are so good and I'd hate to have to choose. In the final count, Sandy Pasch won with Andy Feldman only a few votes behind. Congratulations to both.

10. I spoke to a guest on Ben Merens show this afternoon on NPR

and he said that even with 1000 votes that Cvetkovich would not appear on the ballot and be a write-in there as well.

The guest was Dennis Dresang, Professor of Political Science, UW-Madison.

11. I've had a chance to check out the statute on that
It says the candidate must get write-in votes equal to the number of signatures required on nomination papers (1,000 for Congress) or 5% of the votes cast for the party's candidate for governor at the last election (hard to calculate because the 5th has some partial counties, but at least 5,000). Then the kicker: whichever is greater. (Section 8.16, Wisconsin Statutes) So Cvetkovich must have been given some incomplete advice. However, I'm not at all sorry about writing in his name yesterday. It felt good to cast a vote in good conscience against Sensenbrenner.

12. No, I agree that it's not a bad thing to have written him in
I'm curious how many votes he got, I saw no mention of his name. I'd like a Dem on the ballot.
