further observation about McCain Palin lawn signs
They really must be forcing them on people because I've noticed that there's never just 1 sign in someone's yard, there are always multiples. One house that I pass regularly has 6 (six!!!) McCain Palin signs. Two thoughts on this 1) the local Republican campaign HQ is right on a major bypass and very visible whereas the Dem HQ is downtown and you have to look for it and 2) McCain is looking desperate.

1. So ya got orders to place 1000 lawn signs
and you can only find 20 takers.

Each lawn gets 50 signs.

2. Something I just noticed today
There is a place near here that had two McCain-Palin signs and two for the Republican legislative candidate last week (it's a large building). Today I noticed that McCain-Palin are gone and the other candidate stands alone. Maybe the debate on Thursday pushed them over the edge.

Every McCain house has two of them. But there are fewer houses sporting any signs at all.

5. I've seen that too.
However, I'm trying to not get too excited about the predominant Obama signs around reddish Stoughton. I think most Repukes are not put-a-sign-in-the-yard keen on McCain, but they'll still vote for him come time.

6. Well there is 3 awful signs in my neigoborhood!!
NOBAMA

That just says that they just don't want to vote for for Obama, but evidently don't like there own candidate to put up his signs (sounds a little bigoted to me!). They also have other repuke signs on lawn, such as senselessbrenner and a local state assembly candidate, knodl, whose sign states "conservative agenda".

We put up 2 Obama signs since we are on corner and want people from both streets to see them. In 2004 we had Kerry signs stolen twice.

9. I'm seeing the two-fer's, too
It's always the blue McCain/Palin in conjunction with the "Families for McCain" out here.

But I am not shocked when I see a fair number of these out here in Lake Country. I am, however, QUITE shocked at the number of Obama signs that I am seeing in this VERY red area. Not a TON, but a LOT more than expected and more every day. That's inspiring, encouraging, and rather hopey. :)

11. Quite a number of Obama signs in Ozaukee County
as I was running my marathon through Mequon, Bayside, etc. Sunday morning.

Not as many as McCain, but still a strong presence in that very red area none the less.

12. I saw my first McLame/Failin signs today and there were 5 of them in ONE lawn!!
Why is this?

I see Obama/Biden sides all over Madison (esp. on the East side where I live). Tonight I was driving through the Vilas neighborhood and saw my first McCain/Palin yard signs-- with 5 of 'em right in a row in front of ONE HOUSE with a pretty small yard. The signs were very close together and all at different heights. It was psycho!

13. I was in Racine on Sunday...
and saw more Obama than McCain there. At first it was TOTALLY more, then I found more McCain out in the boonies near this one cemetery I had to go to.

Plus I was over near Brady/Farwell to grab some breakfast, and saw so many Obama bumper stickers and signs it made my heart sing. More McCain shit pops up on my commute every day I'd begun to despair.

14. We've gone through 700+ and have 100+ requests for more signs
and I don't know how many the Obama office has gotten out. The Obama office here in Wausau has got 1000 signs but no wires to put them on and they are charging $8 a piece. We asked for a $2 donations for ours to cover costs, and many have been much more generous.

15. reprehensor went to the Appleton Ave office yesterday...
Edited on Thu Oct-09-08 05:09 AM by fudge stripe cookays
And they were all out of signs and bumper stickers. So we at least got a window cling for the front house window. It was all they had left.

There were WAY too many McCain signs in this neighborhood, so the Obama-ites must have gone in together to get some signs. The karma in the neighborhood has been restored. It makes me MUCH happier to drive through my neighborhood now.
