Is Feingold truly just another politician?
My husband was listening to Ed Schultz and he recommended people in WI call Feingold's office to ask him to have his friend McCain stop sending / robocalling lies about other candidates to see if those in D.C. would try to change how campaigns are run (which I believe Obama is trying to do, yet still has to respond to the lies/inuendos from the other side).

So he called Feingold's office and was very pleasant. He said to the the man who answered to ask his boss, Russ Feingold, to contact his colleague and friend, McCain, to stop sending lies in printed material and robo-calls to the constituents of Wisconsin. And the response was "he doesn't want to get involved" and that was that.

So is this just a politician's answer? I know it was just an staffer on the line, but couldn't they have come up with a better response?

I still think he is better than most in Congress and am very happy to have him as our Senator. It appears he votes his conscience when it really doesn't matter to the end vote, so when his vote would affect policy, will he vote his conscience or side with a friend?

This is NOT to have a flame war about Russ, but just what is an appropriate response to constituents and how they feel about issues / campaigns.

2. Double yes
I am really disappointed in Feingold for his support of McCain.

3. People.... Feingold has been a champion of our Constitution.
McCain is not what I would consider a friend, but look, even Joe Biden said he would run with him as a running mate. How many of those other polititions educated themselves on the patriot act? I feel very lucky to have him as our Senator.

4. I guess I would have liked a bit more of a measured response
what you received was more of a 'no comment' type of thing. Yes, I think he is one of the smartest guys in the Senate, and very happy to have met him and talked to him, so I feel I great about his work (heck, he stayed in our B & B, so I really feel like I know him better than the other 99!) but I think the staffer kind of blew you off, IMHO.

5. I don't think so.
I personally feel that Feingold is a gift to our state and our senate. There is a reason we saw so many Bush and Feingold signs standing together on so many lawns in '04. He truly has the ability to unite us. He votes with his conscience, for what he honestly believes is in his constituent's and country's best interest no matter how unpopular that stance may be. We all know who the only senator was that opposed the Patriot Act. We all know which of our senators opposed the bailout package.

I think Feingold has made it clear that despite his positive feelings for McSame as a person, he does not at all agree with his policies and is fully supporting Obama. While the response you received did seem a little curt, I'm really not sure what a better response would have been - I don't doubt it was just an honest answer.
