1. Over the years many of the hosts that were Air America left it.
So most of the regular weekday lineup: Press, Miller, Schultz, Hartmann, Rhodes, and Malloy will not change- same time, same station. They are all on networks other than Air America or independent.

Not sure about Rachel Maddow's show (which was Air America), though those with cable can still see her on MSNBC. I'm sure the Mic will pick her up if possible- she gets good ratings.

Its less clear to me what happens with some of the weekend Air America hosts, but I suspect they will find other ways to stay on the air. Ron Reagan and Montel Williams were Air America but they were played overnight on the Mic so there isn't as much of a following.

The Mic 92.1 is committed to progressive programming. Having said that, its a Clear Channel station which is in some financial trouble itself...

2. We shouldn't forget the Chicago progressive station, which is not Air America
WCPT is on 820 AM, which reaches all of Milwaukee County and perhaps beyond. They also have three FM stations, and the one that broadcasts into southern Wisconsin is 92.7. Besides that, one can hear their programs on the Internet. The weekly schedule is Stephanie Miller at 8, Ed Schultz at 11, Thom Hartmann at 2 (rebroadcast), and Ron Reagan at 5 until sundown on the AM station and until 8 on FM and Internet. Also many interesting shows on the weekend.

3. The Madison station isn't going anywhere, but up in listenership!
Some guy called Ed Schultz's show today, and said he talked to the station manager. All programming on 92.1 will remain in place (although I wonder about Ron Reagan's show played after midnight).

Ed lifted up Madison as the example of how a community, an owner, and station manager can hold out and do powerful things.
I am so grateful that I now live within the broadcast range!

5. A year ago they ended Lee Rayburn's live morning show
and replaced it with the national show of Bill Press. Lee had a great show with lots of live interviews with local politicians and activists- I heard of many events and goings on here that I would never have known about. But live radio that's not in a city of millions is just too expensive for now.

Thankfully the Mic 92.1 has been as responsive as they can be to the progressive community.

7. WRJN (1400AM) carries Ed Schultz
They're a station out of Racine, and air Schultz live 11-2 weekdays. Signal may be a bit fuzzy, depending on where you are, but during the day should come in. They also carry Alan Colmes (I know, I know) at night, but the nighttime signal doesn't go very far.

8. Many progtalkers didn't carry much AAR programming toward the bitter end
So their schedules haven't changed much. There were only one or two stations across the country that changed formats altogether after AAR's demise, but none in the midwest.

The Mic will keep the format, but did shuffle their lineups to compensate for the loss of a scant few AAR shows.
