Beware the trickery, fellow Cheeseheads....

DU has ads for corporate shills.

Case in point. Mark Neumann, running for Governor of Wisconsin. Mark is a dyed-in-the-wool Republican that wants to sue the feds to roll back what he calls "Obamacare", reduce regulations on business, etc, etc, etc.

However, when you go to his regular site, you'll find he's almost in the Tea Party.

Deceptive? You bet. The otherwise uninformed DU visitor might think Mark's presence on the site somehow validates him as a liberal.

I bet DU gets some revenue from it and it will cost Neumann a few cents every time.

I went to du from another computer so wasn't "logged in" when I got there. I was SICKENED by the ads that I saw. If I wasn't already a member, there's no way in hell I would have looked any further, thinking that DU was somehow "aligned" with the putrid groups advertising on here.

I think it's a travesty.

i would think their message and my message would be rather different.

looking at the ads one would get a differing opinion on what this place is about.

The question then becomes what benefit do the right wingy batnuts who advertise on du obtain?

They must get something?
Cash donations?
List of emailers who should be the first to be rounded up and sent to death camps??

What do they get?

And I guess I wonder, too, if what DU "gets" in terms of revenue outweighs what/who they may be losing from those who never get past those first nauseating ads.

I've done this over the years myself. They have the ability to block them and will.

But as postulator points out, the alternative is that every time you click on it, some of Neumann's money goes to DU. And that's a good thing!

It's all about trade-off's. But if it's as misleading as you say, then you should probably report it.
