Woman arrested for gun threat in shopping line, police say
Source: State Journal

A 21-year-old Middleton woman was arrested Thursday night when she threatened other shoppers while waiting in line at the Toys R Us store, 7309 West Towne Way, which opened for Black Friday shopping at 10 p.m., Madison police reported.

Several hundred shoppers were in line just after 10 p.m., when the woman attempted to move to the front of the line, police said. When she was confronted by other shoppers, she made threats to retrieve a gun and shoot the shoppers.

No gun was found, and the woman, who was not named, was arrested and taken to the Dane County Jail on a tentative charge of disorderly conduct.

"She's now spending her shopping money to post bond," said Madison Police Sgt. Erik Fuhremann.

1. "She's now spending her shopping money to post bond"
LOL. Some don't know how to act during holiday shopping, they make it far more serious than it should be.

3. And yet some want people like her to be able to conceal carry
everywhere--no exceptions. And, NRA is pressing hard for 18 year olds to be able to do likewise. The wild west all over again.... sigh

4. Yes, and the sad part is....
she's creating a smear on an innocent harbringer of peach and pleasure - a gun. Poor guns. They get SUCH a bad rap.

Jeez, I'd like to say "you must be kidding", but I'm sure you're not. The NRA long ago lost all credibility as a sensible or reasonable organization.

10. Actually, it's a lack of understanding of reality
that these arguments come from. We have these little things called constitutional rights. Apparently some democrats think we should arbitrarily deny constitutional rights to some people in the name of safety (sounds like something Pres. Bush would do to fight terrorists).

7. Yep -- they are promoting carrying in public parks, churches, bars, Chuck E Cheeze. . . . . .

Worse, they think they are "trained" to handle any situation that arises because they've watched a video and shot paper targets. Give me a break.

11. Go ask 'em on the DU Gun Forum. If all else fails, they'll say it's their constitutional right.

Then, they'll start quoting all these statistics about crime, etc. And even assert that by toting guns they are helping law enforcement. The fact that creating an armed society is not in our best interest is of little concern.

12. the problem is
that "they" have facts and provide them. all you apparently have is the statement that begins with "The fact that...". where is the data (and please note that anecdotal evidence is no substitute for statewide or nationwide data) to back up your contention?

your statement is a belief and without being born out with data is just, basically, faith that your statement is accurate.

9. So?
Some of you seem to believe constitutional rights should be arbitrarily denied based on age or just the fact that something makes you uncomfortable. I don't own a gun and am not a big fan, but it's not a light matter to take away someone's constitutional rights, as some of you think it is, whether you believe in the amendment or not.

15. Most aren't in "well regulated militia," so I'd question whether it's really a Constitutional right
Yea, I know the courts have ruled . . . . . but, the gun lobby has always had a hand in that.

I think promoting an armed society is much more dangerous than controls on carrying/packing in public. Just one guy's opinion. But I have known a bunch of packers, and few should have been carrying in public.
