Presidential trip runs at least $373,600 tab

APPLETON — President Bush’s trip here March 30 cost a minimum of nearly $400,000, almost all of which was footed by taxpayers.

The total expenses, for things ranging from operation of the president’s airplane to local police security, are based on actual costs as well as estimates.

The Post-Crescent, using figures gleaned through open-records requests to local sources and determined through various federal government sources, discovered that the presidential trip cost taxpayers at least $373,600.

...since it is us who now pay the bulk of the taxes. Big corporations and the very wealthy will have to open their tax returns if they want to convince the rest of us that they are paying their fair share.

Maybe you're getting more critical letters because more people are critical? Nah, apparently that 'unpatriotic' thought is beyond your imagination. Yeesh.
