Protest Bush in Prairie du Chien and LaCrosse
I just got this message from a friend in LaCrosse:

Plans are advancing in regard to protesting Bush et al on Friday in Prairie, Hwy 35 and La Crosse. Please pass on to your fellow Dems the necessity to have more than 700 people protesting Friday...we are trying to beat our former record. Copeland Park holds 2800....it would be WONDERFUL if we could beat the number of ticket holders. Will keep you apprised of developments as I hear.

Pots make great noise makers....the streets are ours....let's show 'em that this is Kerry country, REAL veterans, true patriots, environmentalists, feminists, children who deserve a great education, labor, farmers....every American!

I have a business to run so I can't make it. I hope there are many others who can.

1. Update on protest and rally today
Sounds like there will be plenty of effort put into a rally and people will be protesting nearly the entire route. Sounds like they have put together a rather large unwelcoming committee. Got this update from a friend in LaCrosse.

<snip>

"Highway 14/61 will be mightily restricted to limited traffic. Protestors are planning to meet the President in Prairie du Chien (Sierra Club, NE Iowa, Gays Mills Folks, etc); he will then meet protestors along Highway 27 and then in Viroqua (downtown). And finally, some of the Campus Progressives will post their bodies and signs at the overpass coming into La Crosse just south of the new Super Wal-mart Sweatshop.

The rally will begin officially at Copeland Park at 4:45 and go to 5:15. If you can come at 2:30 --fantastic--the earlier the better!!! With all of our signs, noisemakers, and spirited voices we will walk and surround the Bush Stadium at 5:15PM. We will have an "official" chant for all of us to do as we listen to our President. All signs (minus sticks) will be allowed. WE will be outside the designated area but in site of the media who will be facing the President ---

We will have a press conference prior to the rally. We have attempted to secure a wide swath of voices and people. Media is expected from across the country including Eau Claire, Rochester, the Twin Cities, local Press, and national press. SO THOSE SIGNS< BODIES< AND VOICES ARE IMPORTANT. Some media will solely be following us--with photographers and reporters--be prepared to speak!!"

2. Thanks for the update
wish I could be there. It is beautiful country, and shouldn't be smeared with the idiot occupying the White House. Hoping for a huge turnout. LaCrosse has a strong liberal base.
