Dems talk Walker recall in Madison

By Jason Stein of the Journal Sentinel

Oct. 25, 2011 6:57 p.m. |(38) Comments

Madison -- Democrats and union supporters cheered the prospect of a recall of Gov. Scott Walker at a forum here Tuesday evening.

The event kicked off a statewide tour seeking to publicize a recall effort against the Republican governor that starts on Nov. 15.

The forum held at the state headquarters of the American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees was held by the state Democratic Party. It featured three Democrats – Sen. Jon Erpenbach of Middleton, former Dane County Executive Kathleen Falk and former U.S. Rep. Dave Obey - rumored as possible challengers to Walker if a recall election is held.

But none of them addressed whether they might run against Walker in a recall.

............

This RW idiot in the comment section is the moron!

Can we recall Erpenbach and Obey since they're obviously morons.

2. I just got home from this event- good speeches
nice turnout, Joe Parisi was there too. About 50-75 people turned out which was pretty good considering we didn't know about it till mid afternoon. Loved hearing Dave Obey. Things are still a little disorganized- like we don't know if there will be one petition or two for Walker and Kleefish but it will all come together.

There are apparently a lot of groups ready to go in the Madison area so here's hoping we get Dane county saturated early and can move out around the state.

3. I heard Obey at the BobFestNorth this year. He has a nack
for getting people fired up. It was a cool rainy day.

Thanks for the report. I used to live in Madtown till a few years ago. I miss all things Madison.

But best to all the folks down there getting us all going up here in the north woods.

I hope to go to the one in Eau Claire but I do not have the details for it yet.

Yes, about Kleefisch--I do hope we can do the two together. Yes, things will come together soon. That I know.

4. Never seen so much solidarity amongst the Dems as we have right now.
Somebody did ask a question about who will we have run for governor and it was gently answered with: we need to keep our eye on the goal that is right in front of us. So I get the sense that this has been much discussed and decided on and when the time is right we will know. I do love the fact that Dave Obey cares so much that he is down here in Madison to fire everybody up. Kathleen Falk too. Lots of our elected officials are doing an awful lot of work.

And the guts of this stuff is younger people who I don't know who send out the emails... I know they are paying their dues working 15 hour days to get all this organizing done. Hats off to Nick Niles and the rest of you. :toast:

6. Mahlon Mitchell for Governor?
"In an interview with Mother Jones, he said he was “seriously considering a run” for governor in a potential recall election targeting Walker. He said he believes Wisconsinites are sick of professional politicians not following through on campaign promises, and that a populist candidate running against Walker stands a better chance of unseating the governor."
