Meltdown in Madison
Madison Wisconsin -- March 11, 2011 was a day in infamy in Japan; the earth shook, a tsunami soon followed and then the inexplicable happened, Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant began to leak radiation into the environment. All of these horrific chain of events took place while the world looked on from afar, unable to help those buried in the rubble, unable to tell others to get out of harms way and evacuate due to the radiation. There were those that knew of Tokyo Electric Power Company's lax safety standards and substandard equipment and for years they tried to warn others of the dangers within that facility. Japan's governing body, regularly assured their citizens that the plant was safe and could withstand just about any event.

It was on that faithful day that those that knew of the dangers quickly tried to encourage others to leave and get out of the way because the worst was yet to come. Some of the citizens left and many others remained behind. Japanese officials assured the public that all was well with the plant. It wasn't until the evacuation orders began to stream into the media that with each passing day the perimeter was expanded slowly. By the time it was over it reached for miles around the facility. Too much time passed before the government of Japan acknowledged that there was a full meltdown. By that time, many lives had been lost, many men, women, children had been exposed to dangerous levels of radiation and the environment was now stained for decades to come with the hazardous nuclear fuel at a minimum.
