Democracy for America meetup Dec. 1
Edited on Fri Nov-26-04 02:48 PM by dragonlady
The next meetup for Democracy for America (the former Dean group) will be next Wednesday at 7 p.m.

The Milwaukee group will meet at the Bean Head Cafe, 1839 N. Martin Luther King Dr. The number of people signed up is higher than it has been in many months, and many seem to be new to the group.

To check out locations for other Wisconsin cities, go here:

I have a feeling that DFA will play an important part in what happens next in this country. Come and join us.

Edit: The national DFA has announced that we should collect prepaid phone cards that will be donated to hospitalized military personnel who can use them to call their families at the holidays. (This is a renewal of the DeanCorps project that did community service activities during the campaign, such as sorting food at Hunger Taskforce here in Milwaukee.) I'll send in any that are brought to the Milwaukee meetup, or they can be sent to Democracy for America, PO Box 8313, Burlington, VT 05402. DFA will match the donations for double the total.

2. Okay, I have a question
...I'm not a Democrat and was not a Dean supporter---can I still come to this? And no, I'm not a Repug. Bushie...I'm a Green.

3. Yes, of course
Anyone who wants to help organize for the fight ahead, starting with the 2005 local elections, is welcome. It seems to me that everyone who is not in favor of the current state of affairs had better join together now and get started on taking our country back. We can sort out any differences between us later.

4. One problem, DL...
I think Beanhead is out of business. Can you look into it?

5. URGENT: CHANGE OF VENUE
The DFA meetup will be at Long Wongs, 52nd and Bluemound, at 7 p.m. instead.

Unfortunately, Bean Head has closed.

6. Thanks for posting this, ER
It's such a shame that Bean Head is closed, it was a really nice place. We would have dropped in other than for meetings if it weren't so far from home. I tried calling last night without success after reading CW's message, and then today learned of its demise.

By the way, the scheduled guests for the meeting are Bryan Kennedy and Jennifer Morales, who put on great campaigns for Congress and state Senate, respectively. We'll be talking about the future, too.

7. Excellent, DL...I should be there.
It's too bad, really, about Bean Head...I'm on the East Side now, so it's only a few minutes away. Long Wong's is a little more of a schlep.
