Powerful bomb defused in Chetek

NPR also reporting a high-powered bomb was found in a car outside a downtown Chetek carwash today. Feds are investigating. They gave no additional news about it.

I can't imagine Al Qaeda blowing up a car wash.

...is they are headed for the nearest Hmong enclave.

Car washes would seem to have very little political significance.

And...in Chetek?

it seems it was another "bottle" bomb, or McGyver bomb.

CHETEK, Wis. - Experts defused a homemade bomb placed in a parking lot near a downtown car wash.

"It was an ugly, nasty looking thing," Police Chief Bob Breidenbach said Friday. "It definitely was a bomb and an extremely dangerous one."

Investigators weren't sure exactly what may have been the bomb's target, but it was placed in an area where cars and people would travel for the car wash business, Breidenbach said.

"There was a potential for it to be triggered. How it was going to be done, I don't know," he said.
