Wear black and spend no money

Rather than celebrate President Bush's $40 million inauguration ceremony, several area residents decided to mourn the killing in Iraq and the demise of Democratic government in the United States.

"The amount of money that's being spent in Washington is pretty appalling when you think about how one in five children in this country go to bed hungry," Laura Kruse, an alternative education instructor at Ashland High School, said. "The Bush administration kind of thrives on the (corporate) connections, the oil money. I think it's a frightening commentary on the direction this country is going, especially when we're espousing this notion of democracy and pushing for elections."

Lived there for 10 years and served two terms as Mayor....those people up there are truly dedicated.
