5. Hey ewag
Edited on Sat Mar-19-05 03:35 PM by Lefta Dissenter
we only got about 5 inches. It's sort of compacting today, with the temp right around freezing. I heard the town plow go by at about 5:00am, and my husband had our driveway plowed out by 7:00.

On my way in to work, however, I saw a guy who was using a snowblower to clear the entrance of his driveway. It looked like he had forgotten to turn the snowthrowing chute AWAY from himself. He was absolutely COVERED with snow, from stem to stern - like a magical, moving snowman! :7

edited to add that the first time I ever talked to you was when you were shoveling!!! I had called you from the Clark office, and you were outside in the snow! :hi:

7. We bought a new house and now I have 2 driveways to do.
I almost cried when I got to the new house and saw that one of the neighbors had used their snowblower on our driveway. I hope they are still great neighbors when they find out I'm a liberal - it's a right wing neighborhood, or so I've heard.

Anyone going to the 7th CD convention in Ashland?

9. Not like you did!!
My guess is about 5-6 inches. When I took my li'l Toro out, it kept getting clogged, because the snow was wet and heavy. Most of the afternoon was a mixture of snow/freezing rain.

I am so not looking forward to tomorrow. Country churches and snow are not a good combination. (my other congregation is in West Kewaunee, about 6 miles inland)

Did you plow your driveway yourself? Or were you smart, and found someone else to do it for you? (I understand that's why many people here have kids) :)

11. Yeah the snow was so wet
using a blower was bad.I only have a thrower and that's futile when it's that wet,so I just shoveled.Luckily we only got a couple of inches.

13. yeah,
but trying to get the snowballs out of that wool is a chore. Our bichon and maltese love to romp in the snow, and then they come in totally covered in snow - particularly the bichon with that dense curly hair. We've actually had snowball fights inside with the snow we've pulled off that dog!

Actually I don't consider it much different from drying them off when it is raining outside. Sometimes I use the blowdryer.

How much snow in Madison?

16. We got 5 - 6 inches
this last go-round. And if you want to come try getting the snow out of this dog's legs, you're welcome to it. I don't understand why he gets life-sized snowballs within an instant of being outside. And sometimes so many that they just fill the space between his front legs, from pads to chest (not that his legs are that long). Maybe if he were on stilts like some dogs, or didn't have sheep's wool for hair, it wouldn't be this bad. Then, of course, yesterday he was looking for a toy that must have been left out in the yard before the snow, because he came in with a completely snowballed face from rooting around... He looked like something out of a cartoon - his eyes blinking behind a complete shroud of snowballs. And then, of course, he reminds me that the reason I wanted a bichon in the first place is that they're total lapdogs - and what better place to finish melting off the snow than in my lap...

...he's lucky we love him, or we'd lock the door till May... :P

17. When was he groom last? Maybe because his coat is long
I got my Zipper groomed a little bit longer than usual so that she wouldn't be too cold when she went out. When it gets warmer I will have her clipped shorter.

18. Well, he went into late fall nekkid
and has about 2 1/5 inches of coat now, but he has incredibly dense wool, even for a bichon. So while snowballs sort of slide out of the Maltese's coat, they stick like velcro to the bichon's. Go figure. But, another few weeks (that's wishful thinking) and I'll have him shorn down again. I think a poodle's coat is a little shinier and smoother than my bichon's - at least my sister's poodle is that way. Still kinky, but a smoother hair shaft.

Do you think everyone in the Wisconsin forum is totally fascinated by our doggie discussion? Perhaps they'll kick us out to the pet forum.

I haven't even gotten into the issues with ICE and horses, llamas, and the miniature donkey... :7

19. Hey it's Wisconsin related... (Snow)
My younger poodle's coat is much more softer than the older one.

I haven't tested to see if snow collects easier on the older poodle. Will have to wait til next because I just got her a few weeks ago.
