John Gard to run for congress?
Read this in the Peshtigo Times, my local weekly today.

This paper is notorious for being slow to update their website., so here is the article transcribed form the paper:

Gard, Green Fund Raiser

State Assembly Speaker John Gard, 41 (R-Peshtigo) and US Rep. Mark Green (R-Green Bay) will host a fund raiser on Friday, April 1 with US House Speaker hastert (R-Ill.) It will be held at 5:30 p.m. in the Lauerman Guest House Inn, 1975 Riverside Ave., Marinette.

It was reported to be another sign that Gard plans to run for the U.S. Congress for the seat current;ly held by Green as 8th District Congressman. Green Intends to give up the seat to run for Governor in 2006.

gard, 41 officialy has not yet formed a federal campaign committe which he must do to run for Green's seat. He is reported to be one of several northeastern Wisconsin Republicans considering to be running for Green's Seat in Congress. Others are State Reps. Terri McCormick, Oshkosh; Steve Wieckert, 50 Appleton and Frank Lassee, 43 Bellvue.

Please let this dick be the nominee. I'd like to see our candidate rip him a new one about his residency and Per Diem skulldugery. Also, it get him the fuck out of this district, and the assembly, as well.

1. That's the rumor
even my locals have heard it and are paying attention to it....

Looks like we're going to see a new version of THE REPUBLICAN SHUFFLE It will go something like this:

Congressman Mark Green runs for either Governor or against Herb Kohl

Gard runs for Green's slot

??? runs for Gard's slot.

If we're lucky, we'll get rid of Green and Gard.....

2. Any rumors on who the Democratic candidate will be?
We need someone with a lot of name recognition (or someone who can develop it in the next 2 years) Whoever it is will need a lot of money and organization, something the Repubs have plenty of.

He had the drive, and would have wiped the floor, walls, and celing with Gard in any debate last year. Unfortunalry, he was a bit of a johnny come latley, announcing his candidacy at the 8th CD convention and his opponent, Bruce Berman got his signs and literature out way before he did. I've been away for so long, and I won't hear more until I get back for the summer.
