Walker in Default at the State Elections Board
MADISON – Milwaukee County Executive Scott Walker yesterday missed his
deadline to submit a response to a complaint filed against him with the State Elections Board.

The State Elections Board launched an investigation of Scott Walker’s illegal use of funds from his campaign account on May 13th.

Since then, the Board has already given Scott Walker two extensions to file a sworn, written response to the complaint and turn over files related to the violations.

• On May 26th, John Hiller, the Treasurer for the Walker Campaign,
requested an extension until June 10th.
• On June 10th, Hiller again requested an additional extension to June 20th.

After granting the second extension, the State Elections Board informed the Walker Campaign that if they did not file by June 20, 2005, the Board would take a non-response as an indication that the Walker Campaign does not contest the allegations of the complaint.

Walker’s response was due yesterday by 4:30 pm in the State Elections Board Offices. When the offices closed last night, nothing had been received from Walker or his campaign at the State Elections Board.

If Walker is found in violation of Wisconsin Campaign Law he could face felony charges and substantial fines.

Arrogance or stupidity? You decide. Either way, I just hope he keeps it up until they start slapping him with fines and maybe even a stiffer sentence for any violations they find.

 A girl can have a dream, can't she?

1. Thanks for Posting...One Question
I have some stuff on the back burner for this guy so thanks for posting. Does anyone know what the specific violation was on May 13? It seems that he does so many questionable things and I'm not sure I know which one they are referring.

2. Just Answered Myself...
This appears to be regarding Walker trying to use campaign funds to promote his policies as county exec. I recall him trying to pressure county supers by doing a phone campaign.

Also it looks like his response did not get faxed until after the State Board office closed on the 20th...unfortunatly it looks like they will still accept it as being received on the 20th.

Check out below for the State Board's letter.
