This article sums it all up for me - Re: Emerson

"I'm sorry, but I must have missed something. For Canadians who voted for change in electing a Harper government, what kind of !@#??! change is this?"

"Ironically, Canadians who voted for Harper despite concerns he would, upon winning office, tear off his mask of moderation to reveal a right-wing Reformer, have been proven wrong. Based on his first day in power, Harper is acting just like a Liberal.

And that's really scary."

I really like this Goldstein guy. It's nice to see partisanship go out the window when confronted with an ugly reality. We need more integrity like this in our media.

1. It's good
Though Goldstein's on the right, from what I've heard (and of course, I may not have heard it all), he's a stand-up guy. (And I don't mean that in the "Stand Up for Canada" sense.)

It also - if I may allow partisanship back through the window - underscores how this reflects poorly on both the Conservative and the Liberal parties (for instance, the worst that can be said of Harper's moves is that he's acting like a Liberal), and presents an opportunity for the NDP to distinguish itself.
