Harper faces first day in question period hot seat

The Conservatives were on the question period hot seat in the House of Commons for the first time in more than 13 years, as Prime Minister Stephen Harper faced questions on his government's agenda.

Opposition Leader Bill Graham led off the Liberals, who were on the attack for the first time in a long time.

Graham complained about Tuesday's speech from the throne, asking why the state of agriculture was not one of the government's top priorities.

Harper responded by blaming the Liberals for sitting on three-quarters of a billion dollars for farmers, announcing that he was releasing that money to cash-strapped farmers.

My my. First time that I have heard they are in the hot seat.

Maybe they could explain why they were blocking all that mad cow investigation into the big corporates that were making large sums!

Had to add the mug shots.

1. Good point
re blocking investigation into BSE.

But it's not just the big corporations they're protecting...it's the farmers too.

Farmers absolutely detest the new regulations put in place to prevent BSE. (ie banning ruminant feed) Similar to the objections of Corp's, it's all about extra cost. Particularly disturbing though, as this affects public health and crippled their industry for so long.
