4 Canadian soldiers killed in Afghanistan

Four Canadian soldiers have been killed in a roadside bomb explosion in southern Afghanistan, the Department of National Defence has confirmed.

The four were travelling in a G-wagon near the village of Gumbad, 70 kilometres north of Kandahar city, when the attack happened around 7:30 a.m. local time on Saturday.

Three of the men died at the scene. A fourth died en route to the hospital at coalition air base in Kandahar.

Two of the soldiers were reservists. One was from Edmonton, one from Victoria, one from Petawawa and one from Toronto, military officials said.
