Tory crime bills may jam jails

OTTAWA — The new Conservative government’s get-tough-on-crime legislation could prove to be tough on taxpayers.

Justice Minister Vic Toews introduced two bills Thursday that would toughen sentencing for serious crimes — and could put hundreds more offenders in federal prisons at a cost of up to $240 million.

Sounds to me that they are getting a bit soft on their promise. Just wait till the drug part comes in. Can just see all these student doctors and lawyers getting a criminal sentence. If the cops will not do it, then I am sure that there will be plenty of rent a cops to take over.

The jails are already overflowing. Just add more to the university for criminals.
