An e-mail I Received
Dear fellow supporter of David Orchard's Campaign for Canada,
As you are likely aware, those of us who are supportive of the efforts of David Orchard are quite excited to see him re-engage in the political process at another opportune time. While some have said that they felt too burned by the PC debacle to continue with this process, those who saw David on his B.C. - Alberta tour two weeks ago believe that his message is too important to not follow him into the Liberal Party. We are glad to be "political orphans" no longer.

David believes that now is a very good time to join the Liberal Party, as it is going through a major time of renewal and reorganization. That has been my experience as well. Liberal insiders I have met in Alberta are asking those of us who are new to the party, how we should change party policy on agriculture, environment, trade, health care and the economy just to name a few. Thirty-two Commission task forces have been started to renew the party. The pledge by many of the leadership candidates is that they want to hear what people are saying in the country.

Even if David does not run for the leadership himself, our participation could very much influence the leadership outcome in a direction that could be a counter-balance to the Harper Conservative party.

We would like to invite you to consider joining the Liberal Party.

It is now possible to join directly on-line with a credit card. To sign up on-line go to http://www.liberal.ca click on the link "Join the Party" and follow the instructions. (You need to use your own credit card.) Please tell others you think will be interested about this easy method of getting a membership and encourage them to join as well.

Once your on-line application has gone through -- you'll get a message saying, "Thank You! We look forward to you becoming part of the network of Liberals across the country."

You can also phone and request a membership form directly from the Liberal Party Canada - Alberta office through their toll-free number: 1-800-879-8294. Or, if you happen to be downtown Edmonton you can also visit the Liberal Party office at #050, 10240 - 124th Street Edmonton, Alberta T5N 3W6, call at 780-424-1984 or E-mail: <office@liberalalberta.ca> or visit the Calgary Office at #108, 5211 - MacLeod Trail SW Calgary, Alberta T2H 0J3, call at 403-252-2648 or E-mail: <kweiler@liberalalberta.ca> (or use toll free number above) If you visit the Edmonton or Calgary office you can become a member right there. (If you sign up at the office, please also ask for the ten blank membership forms each party member is entitled to, so that you can sign up friends and family. We would like to have some extras to pass out, too.)

If you decide to go ahead or already have done so, please let me <rcbuxton@telus.net> or Marjaleena Repo, Coordinator for David Orchard's campaign at <ccaftnat@sasktel.net> know, so that we can all work together.

I am taking part in this initiative because of my respect for David Orchard and his fight for the country that I love, and because being involved in the political process is, in my view, far better than feeling like lame ducks and somewhat helpless. I hope that you will agree, and act. Make no mistake about it, the Liberal Party of Canada will form a Government again soon. Let's be part of it!

Roger C. Buxton
Board member of the Wetaskiwin Federal Liberal Riding Association
Former President of the Wetaskiwin Federal Progressive Conservative Riding Association
Member Liberal Canada-Alberta working group on agriculture
Member Liberal Canada-Alberta working group on environment and sustainable energy
Member Liberal Canada-Alberta working group on international trade

P.S.: Join the party today and you could have input to one or more of these working groups!

P.S. 2: Time is of the essence because, according to the Party's rules, only those who are members before June 30th will have the right to vote for the new leader or be a delegate to the leadership convention in Montreal on November 29th - December 1st.

Hmm. Is this more Liberal dirty tricks? Are they (Old PC's trying to divide?)

A quick trip To David O's site has nothing about this.

Wonder?

Let's see what David has to say!
Are you listening Dave?

1. Oh My! I thought he was part of a new Conservative party?
Hmmmm, might be interesting to watch this develop, if true.

2. Keyword: If True...
I guess it really comes down to whether or not you want to give David Orchard money. Yeah and he might run for the leadership for some party again with the money or he might buy a new computer to type new appeals for money again next year.

But at least this panhandler isn't stalking people at the bus stop, so I guess we can be grateful about that...
