You've all been told. (Public has no interest in media-PM feud: Harper)
Public has no interest in media-PM feud: Harper

Prime Minister Stephen Harper says news of his rocky relationship with the national media is all "inside Ottawa stuff" that is of no interest to most Canadians.

Following an announcement in Vancouver Thursday of a federal crackdown on street racing, Harper spent the bulk of his question and answer session addressing his relationship with the media -- which he claims is biased against him.

Harper wants Ottawa press gallery reporters to put their names on a list, from which his office will pick and choose who gets to question him at news conferences.

Press gallery reporters fear the prime minister is trying to freeze out media organizations he doesn't like.

1. Well that's precisely what he's trying to do, isn't it?

Along with his belly, it seems Stevie's head is inflating at an alarming pace.

2. Everything these wingnuts do is right out of the Bush/Rove playbook.

Funny thing is they don't see that playbook is crashing and burning for BushCo.

3. Is Harper right?
I think so...there is no love in this country of the media and if the public, Harper or I turn out to be right, what precisely are the other parties going to do...

With an election around the corner, I don't think that the 'Harper is a dickhead' is really going to work a third time...let's face it, the guy hasn't really done anything all that 'scary'---that is why I am suggesting that the other parties' operatives should stand down on that shit and start establishing some 'hard' criticism of this guy and do it quick before he rides a populist 'protest' campaign to a sizable majority.

Then he will be really scary...people are misreading the public on this stuff and if progressives are really going to let the Media run the Opposition and not be aware that the the Media has it's OWN interests in all this that are being quietly negotiated behind the scenes, then we are sunk.

The media did what the media usually does with what should have been a 'corrosive'--Emerson!! The media went along with that one, let them get the soundbites out and in most cases trashed the public as being whinny sore losers. The fact of the matter that issue really hit hard on their side--that's the key.

Wedge them with a issue their supporters figure they own...calling them 'stupid nazis' when they are riding 40% in the polls is calling 40% of your fellow citizens 'stupid nazis'...and how do you think they are going to react?

4. good advice
Unlikely to be taken. Even though "Harper is a dickhead" didn't work the second time.

5. Except now the question of whether Harper is a dickhead isn't merely
speculative anymore. Now we have proof of his dickheadedness (other than his nose), and I'm sure more and more proof will be forthcoming over the next little while. Also, he won't be able to control his more yahooish MPs for ever. Give him and his caucus enough rope...
