"Anti-Hizballah" Rally - Toronto - Saturday, August 12
Somehow, this showed up in my mailbox. They are going to counter the "Pro-Hizballah" rally. The link in the email is not their "organization".

Anti-Hizballah Rally - Toronto - Saturday, August 12

Well, since I agreed to organize an anti-Hizballah counterrally for August 12th, here is the plan. It's encouraging to see that people are actually interested!

I would like it if we could meet at the Starbucks at 110 Bloor West (on the north side of Bloor, west of Bay). I will arrive there probably a bit before 12:30PM. Please come between 12:30 and 1PM, which is when the pro-Hizballah rally starts. At 1PM we will walk one block west to the Israeli consulate, which is where all the pro-Hizballah types are going to be hanging out.

If you're reading this, and you're interested in attending, please email me so that we can swap cellphone numbers.

DIRECTIONS TO STARBUCKS: If you're taking the Bloor-Danforth subway line, get off at Bay Station and walk west on Bloor until you see the Starbucks sign. If you're taking the yellow line, it's probably easier to get off at Museum Station, walk north on Avenue Road to Bloor, then walk east. If you're in the general area but still can't find Starbucks for whatever reason, call my cellphone for directions.

SIGNS AND MESSAGES: Please try not to put anything on a sign, or say anything to the media, which could possibly get you in trouble for hate speech (the legal definition of which can be found here: http://www.acjnet.org/youthfaq/define.html)

MUSIC: I'm planning on bringing an acoustic guitar. Does anyone know any easy protest songs? If you do, please suggest them to me, and I will look them up and figure out how to play them.

PUBLICITY: It's too late to launch any kind of full-scale advertising campaign for our counterrally, but if you know anyone who might be interested in attending, please pass this along to them.

See you there!

1. Both sides need to be protested, not just one.
"Anti-Hezbollah" is indistinguishable from "pro-Israeli" given the context of the protest. And the reverse is just as true for any "anti-Israeli" rally.

I'll wager that most indiscriminately-killed innocents don't care where certain deadly weapons come from. And it's their side that I'm on.

3. Off topic...
Who's the babe? Looks like a Vargas type 50s pin up? Is she the Canadian content?

(somewhat contrasting and unexpected...)

Oh back to the topic...

Yeah um...free country...right to peacefully assemble...change only comes through dialogue...etc etc :eyes:

That's a masterpiece of "American Art".

It's just so in the eye of the beholder, isn't it?

Gillette Elvgren was born and raised in St. Paul, Minnesota where his father operated a paint store. He created billboard, poster and magazine illustrations but is most famous for his pin-up art, much of which was featured on Brown & Bigelow calendars. Elvgren’s relationship with Brown & Bigelow spanned nearly thirty years. He worked chiefly from oils and used live models as well as photography. The “Elvgren Girl” was a real girl – sweet, sexy and innocent. Gil Elvgren has emerged in recent years as the artist most loved and respected by pin-up collectors and fans worldwide.
Yup: sweet, sexy and innocent, and posing with her tits on display for the world. Too bad there aren't any real women like that.

5. That's some real purdy Art...that is
and I swear I will put it up in the TV room right next to the jewel in my American Art collection

Now that's some fancy city folk art that is, I reckon

See that old St Bernard...he's a bluffing...and that Great Dane...yee haw...is gettin' a might steamed...now that is called Interpretative Art in case you Canadian folks don't know...

LOL (master collection of American Art...pfft...what? no Franklin Mint Elvis plates? ;-)

(btw...thx...I have seen this one for years and assumed it was simply 'iconic' -- like the Gibson Girl or the Morton Salt 'girl' or something...only vaguely based on a 'real' model.)

A rally that is going to rally at a Starbucks. Not expecting a large crowd, I guess.
