Canada Immigration...
So, my partner and I have been talking about going to Canada for few years now. After this past (s)election we've finally considering biting the bullet and getting the hell out of here. The atmosphere here is a little too dangerous for our liking.

My partner is a enviromental researcher who, because her work deals with LGBT folks, can't get funding for any of her research thanks to Bush's hold over the goverment. I'm a graphic designer/UI designer who can't get work because it's pretty obvious I'm a big old dyke (no protection wrt to sexual orientation in my county). As well, the climate in my part of the world is getting a little too much like 1939 Germany for my liking.

So... anyone hiring? I'd pass the immigration test with a few points to spare. She'd pass it with a LOT of points to spare (two masters degrees). Our lack of savings makes moving without employment unrealistic. So. any advice? We'd like to settle in a good hockey town (we're both fans) preferablly in BC.

4. I'm sure you know

-- but just a reminder: only one of you has to qualify.

Same-sex partners with a year of cohabitation are treated like opposite-partners with a year of cohabitation or married opposite-sex partners, i.e. the applicant is considered to have a "spouse" as an accompanying dependant in his/her application, and the spouse is included in the application without having to qualify independently.

6. Good Idea
Can't help you with the BC stuff, I'm in Toronto. Glad you're coming though. I left after the last election and have never regretted it for a moment. It's better here.
