Afghan documents stand-off continues
The government has seized on the part of Milliken’s ruling in which he acknowledges a government has the right to prevent documents being made public if they threaten national security. But Milliken emphasized that Parliament’s right to see them is supreme just the same.

“The fact is that the government has certain obligations” to protect the release of documents that might threaten national security, said Harper.

“We look forward to both complying with your ruling and with the legal obligations that have been established by statutes passed by this Parliament (to protect the release of certain documents),” he said.

“The fact of the matter is the government cannot break the law, it cannot order public servants to break the law, nor can it do anything that would unnecessarily jeopardize the safety of Canadian troops.”

Seems to me that Harper didn't hear the Speaker!

I hope that the opposition stands together.

1. Oh, Stevie boy...
I think Harper's just trying to act like a big man. He knows he's beaten. The question is whether or not the government really has something to hide. If they do, then they really will stall.

2. I have no doubt Harper is hiding something....there is no other
explanation why he has been so obstinate and caused such a furor IMO.
