Hébert: Election set off first wave in Quebec’s political turmoil
Among contemporary Canadian politicians, the recently retired Stockwell Day is possibly best placed to measure the huge hit Parti Québécois Leader Pauline Marois is taking this week.

A decade ago, Day lost the leadership of the Canadian Alliance to a caucus mutiny led, in no small part, by Deborah Grey, the first MP ever elected under the Reform Party banner.

At the time, the high-profile of the rebels mattered more than their actual numbers. The same is no less true in this instance.

It is hard to think of three PQ MNAs with more combined gravitas than the trio that bolted from Marois’ caucus on Monday. (A fourth followed suit on Tuesday).

Hard to think that some people keep thinking about their own belly-button.
